The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the online application portal for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) 2027 Session I. Candidates aspiring for admission to undergraduate engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) and architecture (B.Arch / B.Planning) programs at National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and other participating universities can now complete their registrations online.
The registration process commenced on October 24, 2026, and candidates can submit their completed forms along with the fee until November 22, 2026. The Session I examination is scheduled to be conducted between January 20 and January 28, 2027.

Educational Qualification & Eligibility Criteria
Qualifying Passing Year:-
- Candidates who have passed their Class 12 / equivalent examination in 2025 or 2026 are eligible.
- Students currently appearing in their Class 12 / equivalent examination in 2027 are also eligible to apply.
Subject Combination Requirements:-
- For B.E. / B.Tech: Passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or a Technical Vocational subject.
- For B.Arch: Passed Class 12 with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
- For B.Planning: Passed Class 12 with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
Essential Checklist of Documents to Upload
- Photograph: Clear JPG/JPEG format (10 KB to 200 KB).
- Signature: Clear JPG/JPEG format (4 KB to 30 KB).
- Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS): PDF format (50 KB to 300 KB), if applicable.
- PwD Certificate: PDF format (50 KB to 300 KB), if applicable.
How to Fill NTA JEE Main Session 1 Application Form 2027
- Visit the official NTA JEE Main application portal at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
- Click on “JEE (Main) 2027 Session 1 Registration”.
- Complete the initial registration by choosing an authentication method (Aadhaar / Passport / DigiLocker / PAN / ABC ID) and generating your Application Number and Password.
- Log in using your Application Number and Password.
- Complete the detailed application form by entering personal details, choice of examination cities (4 options), and academic performance details of Class 10 and Class 12.
- Upload scanned images of required credentials:
- Recent passport-size photograph (color or black/white with 80% face visible against white background).
- Candidate signature.
- Category / PwD certificate (if applicable).
- Pay the examination fee using the online payment gateway.
- Download and print multiple copies of the Confirmation Page for future reference.
Examination Scheme & Selection Process
- Paper 1 (B.E. / B.Tech): Covers Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Value Questions.
- Paper 2A (B.Arch): Covers Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test.
- Paper 2B (B.Planning): Covers Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Planning-based Questions.
- Admission/Ranking: Percentile scores will be calculated. High-ranking candidates qualify for JEE Advanced 2027 for IIT admissions, while others participate in JoSAA / CSAB counseling for NIT, IIIT, and CFTI seats.

- Q1: Can I apply for both Session 1 and Session 2 together?
- Ans: NTA allows candidates to apply for Session 1 during this window. Session 2 registration will open separately in February/March 2027, though candidates can choose to pay for both sessions if enabled in the portal.
- Q2: What should I do if my payment status remains pending?
- Ans: If the fee payment status is not updated immediately, wait up to 24 hours or verify with your bank. Do not make multiple rapid transactions until the previous transaction status settles or is refunded by your gateway provider.
- Q3: Is negative marking applicable in JEE Main 2027?
- Ans: Yes. For MCQs and Numerical Value questions, 4 marks are awarded for each correct answer, and 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect response.
